This two-day practical workshop covers the complex nature of low back pain, and how to assess clients and prescribe general exercises. Your staff will also have an understanding of how back pain is treated and the scientific evidence basis on treatment models (common medication, manual therapy, psychotherapy, and exercise).

Entry Requirements

Any employees enrolled on this course must already hold a valid Exercise Referral Level 3 QCF qualification, or equivalent. If this qualification was certified over 3 years ago, further evidence may be required. They will also require 150 hours of professional experience and provide some evidence you have been working with clients for at least 6 months either via PT or ER.

Assessment

This course is assessed in 3 parts:

• Online learning and assessment exam
• Online portfolio
• An in-person practical assessment

Modules

Day One:

• Icebreaker & course aims / objectives

• Psychological factors & screening tools

• Postural & functional assessments (practical tasks)

• Practical exercise prescription – formative teaching practices & assessment (to include all components of prescription)

Day Two:

• Assessment criteria for case study

• Theory paper 1 ½ hrs

Public Course

A course that takes place at one of our 40 national venues. An open course involves your employees training with others learners, in one of our venues that pass a strict audit to ensure they provide the perfect environment for practical learning.

Closed Course

A bespoke course at your own venue of choice, exclusively for your members of staff. A closed course involves a more intimate training experience, that only your employees will attend.
