The retention education suite includes three distinct courses, each designed for different levels of staff:
These courses are the product of a close collaboration between Future Fit for Business and GGFit, driven by a shared vision to tackle the critical challenge of member retention—an issue that can make or break the success of fitness and leisure clubs.
Tom Godwin, Group Operations Director at Future Fit, expressed excitement about the collaboration: “Following the amazing results of the Health Seeker Coaching course, we are thrilled to be collaborating with Guy at GGFit again for the release of the new Membership Retention suite. Retention is critical to keep facilities sustainable and members happy. The suite of courses that have been developed showcase why retention is so important and support the workforce in leisure to do their part to contribute to retention success. We are excited to see the positive impact these courses will have and look forward to working with Guy on this and many more future projects.”
Retention is not just about keeping members; it’s about creating a thriving, connected, and engaged community within a club. Research by the Fitness Industry Association shows that engaged members are 90% more likely to renew their memberships, and further study by the CSI concludes that attracting new members costs five times more than keeping the ones you have, underscoring the importance of investing in retention strategies.
The training offered in the suite encompasses tangible benefits, including equipping staff with the skills to keep customers engaged and loyal, fostering and attracting a more connected and motivated member base, supporting them in achieving their health and fitness goals and overall increasing business success through building a robust and thriving fitness club.
Guy Griffiths, Director of GGFit, emphasised the importance of retention: “Good member retention is talking to people, but the secret to great retention is talking to the right people, at the right time, in the right way.” All courses in the suite are intended to raise awareness of retention initiatives that work and can be implemented at a facility. Guy is particularly excited about the first course, Membership Retention Essentials, which is aimed at everyone and anyone working in leisure or fitness. “It explains why retention is important, what it means to you, and how you can affect retention daily. By instilling more retention instincts in all staff, we’ll create more purpose and help with staff retention too!”
Future Fit for Business remains committed to elevating educational standards within the fitness industry. This new training suite is a part of their ongoing efforts to provide innovative resources that address the evolving needs of health and fitness professionals, and the unique challenges faced by leisure and fitness clubs today.
As the health, leisure and fitness industry continues to pivot towards a more integrated approach to member engagement and wellbeing, this collaboration between Future Fit for Business and GGFit marks a significant step forward in supporting the sector’s long-term sustainability and success.
