Elevate 2026: The Conversations That Will Shape the Future of Fitness

Future Fit’s Elevate 2026 programme highlights the industry’s shift toward inclusive health, advanced coaching, and evidence‑based innovation shaping the future of fitness.

From weight-loss medications to coaching innovation, sleep science to pre and post-natal training, Future Fit’s programme at Elevate 2026 reflects an industry in the middle of a meaningful shift.

For the last 10 years, Elevate has drawn professionals who care not just about the business of fitness, but about who it serves. The organisations that will thrive in the coming years are those making smart decisions now; about their offering, their staff, their client base and their place in a rapidly changing health landscape. As the official Education Partner for Elevate 2026, the Future Fit Group is hosting and contributing to sessions across the Accelerate, Generate and Debate stages, discussing the trends and decisions that will define where this sector goes next.

Obesity medications: A quick fix or doorway to health?

GLP-1 medications are already walking into our gyms and coaching conversations, whether we’re ready for them or not. Future Fit is hosting two sessions on this topic: one exploring how professionals can support clients transitioning off these medications, and a second focused on practical implications for operators.

Is the fitness industry facing an image problem?

This subject matter poses an uncomfortable question: is the fitness industry’s inclusive messaging genuine, or aspirational branding layered over a model that quietly depends on already-motivated people? The sector has long claimed it wants to reach the 80% who don’t use gyms. This debate will ask whether it’s built to do so.

Beyond the gym: The HealthSeeker shift

The HealthSeeker session offers a practical, coaching-led blueprint for engaging people who want better health outcomes but feel excluded by traditional fitness environments. For operators rethinking their membership model, this is worth prioritising.

‘The Next Frontier’

UK Sport calls coaching ‘the next frontier’ in competitive performance. A panel featuring experts from the FA, British Gymnastics and Virtual Health Labs explores how the tools and philosophies driving elite results can be translated into everyday fitness coaching, raising the bar for the whole profession.

The recovery snapshot: Why sleep matters most?

This session explores why sleep consistently outperforms every other recovery modality in research studies, and how fitness professionals can harness this powerful tool to transform their clients’ results. This insightful discussion will look at the science behind the role of sleep in muscle recovery, hormone optimisation, and performance enhancement and explore how sleep optimisation can become a part of your training or client offering.

Lifecycle fitness – Pre & post natal training

The conversation around exercise during pregnancy is ever present. Rather than a list of what to avoid, we’ll compare old and new approaches side by side, replacing outdated restrictions with functional movement patterns that work with pregnancy, not around it. The session will also look beyond birth, examining the fourth trimester and the specific needs of the post-partum period, before exploring how movement supports mood, stress recovery and identity across the trimesters and the role fitness professionals can play in that journey.

Local leadership, national impact

With Sport England investing over £250 million in place-based delivery, change happens locally or not at all. A panel of specialists from GM Moving, Women in Sport and Street Games will explore what effective community-level leadership looks like for physical activity professionals.

“Elevate is where the fitness industry comes to think seriously about what’s next, and that’s exactly the spirit Future Fit brings to everything we do. We’re proud to be hosting conversations that matter, from the role of weight-loss medications in our sector, to how coaching innovation from elite sport can raise the bar for everyday fitness professionals. Education is the engine of progress in this industry, and we’re looking forward to being part of those important discussions at Elevate 2026.”
